Laughing Kamooks Mountain River Ranch

Laughing Kamooks all natural organic handmade soaps for best skincare.  Laughing Kamooks organic soap are artisan soaps with specially selected ingredients, created to enhance the health of your skin.

Kamooks (the Native Chinook word for Dogs) is home to owner Kate Atkins, developer of skin care products and Kamook side-kicks Lola and Zoey, along with 4 newly adopted kittens. Co-owner Dawning McGinnis is a talented artist who enjoys many kinds of mediums that include ceramics, photography, charcoal, glass slumping, and jewelry making.

The River Ranch, on 2-1/2 wooded acres with 700’ of river frontage, was purchased in June 2014 and is going through a gradual transition of natural renovation.  The over 4000 sq. ft. lodge/home is the ideal situation to host private functions, open to friends and family who would enjoy art and writing workshops organized by DawningsArt.com, or who would like to create music, hiking, or biking excursions.  There is room for camping and fun activities for small goups of our family and friends.

We are currently not affiliated with any other organization and are committed to maintaining a safe, quiet, and private venue.

Laughing Kamooks Soaps are all natural, no detergents as are commercial bars.  In fact, commercially produced bars can't even legally claim to be 'soap' as they are detergents. The manufacturers have removed most of the 'good' stuff that occurs in the soap making process, and replaced it with synthetic lathering agents and harsh chemicals. These cheap, plentiful detergent bars are not only bad for your skin, but they're also bad for the planet, too.  Most commercially produced bars contain artificial colors and  chemicals we can't even pronounce. Antibacterial and antimicrobial soaps often contain triclosan. Triclosan is a toxic chemical that is known to cause cancer. According to the National Coalition Against the Misuse of Pesticides (NCAMP), manufacturers of a number of triclosan-containing products claim that the active ingredient continues to work for as long as 12 hours after use. Consumers are, therefore, exposed to triclosan for much longer than the 20 seconds it takes to wash their hands or face.

Always remember that your skin is porous and absorbent. It absorbs whatever it comes in contact with, much the same as sticking something in your mouth. Chronic use of chemical laden products will cause the body to store the chemicals in the body fat or even in the brain.   These nasty chemicals and toxins are now finding their way into our eco-system. Every time that lather goes down the drain, those pollutants are going with it.   The list of offenders included phthalates, which are linked to reproductive disorders in both humans and animals, and parabens, a preservative, which links to cancer.

So, of course, the alternative is all natural, organic, handmade soap.  There are several small businesses selling extremely high quality, all natural, organic soap - yes real soap.  Sure, these soap bars generally cost more than the detergent bars you'll find at Wal-Mart.  But the difference in these soap bars are actually good for your skin, and are good for the planet.

We have specifically chosen ingredients to address a variety of skin issues.  Although, as a natural product, we are not legally allowed to make healing or annealing claims.  We can, however, provide widely accepted information about the ingredients that would make it abundently clear the reasons of our choices.

We also like to include a variety of artistic twists.  The soaps are made in small batches and offered individually or by the custom batch.
